Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the shrimp under cold water, pat them dry with paper towels, and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, lime juice, and lime zest. Set this sauce aside.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or pan over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and red chili flakes to the hot oil. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, but be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 5

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and slightly opaque.

Step 6

Flip the shrimp and pour the sauce mixture over them. Add the butter to the skillet as well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp are fully cooked and coated in the sauce.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro, if desired.

Step 8

Serve immediately while hot with lime wedges on the side. This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad.
