Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Chicken breast
  • 15 pieces Wooden skewers
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.

Step 2

Trim any excess fat from the chicken breasts and slice them into thin strips about 1 inch wide.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce, coconut milk, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground turmeric, ground coriander, cumin powder, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.

Step 4

Add the chicken strips to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop.

Step 5

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 6

Thread the marinated chicken strips onto the soaked wooden skewers, ensuring the meat is secure and evenly distributed.

Step 7

Place the skewers on the preheated grill or grill pan. Cook for 5-6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and has a nice char.

Step 8

Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve the Chicken Satays warm with your favorite peanut sauce or dipping sauce on the side.
