Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground chicken
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 medium, finely grated carrot
  • 3 finely chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 30 pieces lumpia wrappers
  • 1 beaten, for sealing egg
  • 500 ml, for frying vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped green onions.

Step 2

Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 3

To prepare the lumpia, carefully separate the lumpia wrappers, and lay them individually on a flat surface.

Step 4

Place approximately 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture onto the wrapper, near the lower edge.

Step 5

Fold the sides over the filling, then roll the wrapper tightly up towards the top edge, stopping just before the end.

Step 6

Brush the top edge with a bit of the beaten egg to seal the roll firmly.

Step 7

Repeat the filling and rolling process until all the wrappers and filling are used.

Step 8

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches around 170°C (340°F).

Carefully place a few lumpia at a time into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Fry the lumpia for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
