Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 400 grams crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 200 grams mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.

Add the chicken to the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and diced onion. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
