Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Do not cook through. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Cut the brie cheese into 4 equal pieces, and set aside.
Trim the woody ends off the asparagus spears and blanch them in boiling water for 2 minutes. Immediately transfer them to ice water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
