Ingredients

  • 500 grams Chicken (bone-in or boneless, cut into pieces)

  • 2 large Tomatoes (pureed)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 inch piece Ginger (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons Oil (vegetable or mustard)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1 to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 optional Green chilies (sliced)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for 30 seconds until aromatic.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Fry the spices for 1 minute.
