Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and drain the rest. Set aside.
While the pasta is cooking, season both sides of the chicken breasts with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
