Ingredients

  • 280 grams Unsweetened chocolate
  • 227 grams Butter
  • 400 grams Granulated sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 120 grams All-purpose flour
  • 120 grams Crushed walnuts
  • 120 grams Apricot preserves
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 165°C (325°F) and grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsweetened chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 4

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

Step 5

Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Stir in the crushed walnuts, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to maintain the fudgy texture.

Step 9

While the brownies are baking, prepare the apricot glaze. In a small saucepan, mix the apricot preserves, water, and cornstarch over medium-low heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Step 10

Once the brownies are done baking, remove them from the oven and immediately brush the warm apricot glaze evenly over the top.

Step 11

Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. For a clean cut, use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts.

Step 12

Serve and enjoy these rich and historic brownies with a chewy texture and glossy finish.
