Ingredients

  • 250 g Rolled oats
  • 125 g Unsalted butter
  • 100 g Golden syrup
  • 100 g Light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line an 8-inch square baking tin with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, golden syrup, and light brown sugar together, stirring frequently to combine.

Step 3

Once the mixture has fully melted and is smooth, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted mixture over the rolled oats, and use a wooden spoon or spatula to mix thoroughly until all the oats are evenly coated.

Step 5

Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared baking tin and press it down firmly using the back of a spoon or the base of a measuring cup to create an even layer.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the flapjack turns golden brown around the edges.

Step 7

Remove the tin from the oven and allow the flapjack to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before cutting it into squares or bars while still warm.

Step 8

Allow the flapjack to cool completely in the tin before lifting it out with the parchment paper and serving.
