Ingredients

  • 120 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 150 grams brown sugar
  • 75 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 95 grams all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 100 grams dark chocolate chips or chunks

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth and well combined.

Step 3

Stir in the vanilla extract and then beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the mixture is glossy and thick.

Step 4

Add the flour and salt to the mixture, and gently fold it in using a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Fold in the dark chocolate chips or chunks to distribute them evenly throughout the batter.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with the spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 22–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Step 8

Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, about 1 hour. This helps them set and ensures an extra chewy texture.

Step 9

Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Slice into 12 squares and serve. Enjoy!
