Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine or spaghetti according to the package instructions, until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
While the pasta cooks, pick through the crab meat to remove any shells or cartilage, taking care to keep the meat in large chunks. Set aside.
In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
