Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fresh cherries
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 bag Black tea bag or loose-leaf tea
  • 2 teaspoons Honey or sugar (optional)
  • 2 slices Lemon slices (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash and pit the fresh cherries, cutting them in half for easier extraction of flavor.

Step 2

In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil.

Step 3

Add the cherries to the boiling water and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let the cherries simmer for 5 minutes to release their flavor and color into the water.

Step 4

Add the black tea bag (or loose-leaf tea in a strainer) to the pot and continue to simmer for another 3-4 minutes, adjusting the steeping time based on your desired tea strength.

Step 5

Remove the pot from heat and strain the tea into a teapot or serving cups to remove the cherry pieces and tea leaves.

Step 6

If desired, sweeten the tea with honey or sugar, stirring until dissolved.

Step 7

Serve the cherry tea hot, garnished with lemon slices for a zesty twist, if desired.
