Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet or plate.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until they are browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Step 4

In a medium bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, and white vinegar to make the sweet and sour sauce.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry.

Step 6

Pour the sweet and sour sauce into the same skillet used for cooking the meatballs. Bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat.

Step 7

Once simmering, slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry and continue to cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 8

Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet. Stir to coat them in the sauce and cook for another 10-12 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked through.

Step 9

Serve immediately over steamed white rice or as an appetizer. Enjoy!
