Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cilantro
  • 1 cup fresh parsley
  • 0.5 cup raw walnuts
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chlorella or spirulina powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional, for consistency)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the fresh cilantro and parsley thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Step 2

In a food processor, combine the cilantro, parsley, walnuts, and garlic. Pulse a few times until the mixture begins to break down.

Step 3

Add the lemon juice, olive oil, chlorella or spirulina powder, salt, and black pepper to the food processor. Blend until the mixture becomes smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.

Step 4

If the pesto is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water, one tablespoon at a time, and blend again until the desired consistency is reached.

Step 5

Taste the pesto and adjust seasoning if necessary by adding more salt, pepper, or lemon juice.

Step 6

Transfer the pesto to a clean jar or container. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for longer storage.

Step 7

Serve as a spread, dip, or mix it into pasta, roasted vegetables, or salads for a detoxifying and flavorful boost.
