Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 5-ounce cans canned tuna in water
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 3 quarters of a cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to cool the macaroni completely.

Step 2

Drain the canned tuna and flake it with a fork in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Add the cubed cheddar cheese, chopped celery, diced red onion, and thawed peas to the bowl with the tuna.

Step 4

In a small separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to create the dressing.

Step 5

Add the cooled macaroni to the large mixing bowl with the tuna and vegetables. Pour the dressing over the top.

Step 6

Gently toss everything together until the ingredients are well combined and evenly coated in the dressing.

Step 7

Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Before serving, sprinkle a pinch of paprika on top for added flavor and color, if desired.
