Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 8 units crunchy taco shells
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup tortilla chips
  • 0.25 cup jalapeños, sliced
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 0.5 cup diced tomatoes
  • 0.25 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks (approximately 6-8 minutes).

Step 2

Drain any excess grease from the skillet, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.

Step 3

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 4

Place the crunchy taco shells on a baking sheet and sprinkle the bottoms of each shell with a small handful of shredded cheddar cheese (about 1 tablespoon per shell).

Step 5

Bake the taco shells in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes, just until the cheese is melted and the shells are warm.

Step 6

While the taco shells are warming, crush the tortilla chips slightly to create a crumbly topping texture.

Step 7

Assemble the tacos by spooning the seasoned beef mixture into each shell, filling them about two-thirds of the way.

Step 8

Top the beef with additional shredded cheddar cheese, crushed tortilla chips, a few sliced jalapeños, and your desired toppings such as sour cream, salsa, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cilantro.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your Cheesy Nacho Tacos!
