Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 0.5 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 2

Form the beef mixture into 4 evenly sized patties, slightly larger than the size of your buns. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened and golden brown. Remove mushrooms from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the burger patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving them.

Step 5

Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty so it melts.

Step 6

Meanwhile, in a separate small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the sliced onions until caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.

Step 7

Toast the burger buns in a toaster or on a dry skillet until golden brown.

Step 8

To assemble the burgers, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and ketchup on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice on top.

Step 9

Place the cheeseburger patty on the tomato, followed by the sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Add the top bun to complete the burger.

Step 10

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a fresh salad.
