Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces White or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 4 pieces Brioche burger buns
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 piece Tomato, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined and divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a burger patty, about ¾ inch thick. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once melted, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and become golden brown.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the mushrooms and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the burger patties. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without pressing down on them to keep the juices inside. Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 5

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger during the last 1-2 minutes of cooking. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt evenly.

Step 6

Lightly toast the burger buns in a separate skillet or in a toaster and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the cut sides of each bun.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, followed by a cooked burger patty with melted cheese. Top with sautéed mushrooms, a tomato slice, and the top bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides like fries or a crisp salad. Enjoy!
