Ingredients

  • 18 oz Cheese tortellini (fresh or refrigerated)
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions, but reduce the cooking time by 1 minute to keep them slightly underdone. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 4

Stir in the marinara sauce, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Add the drained tortellini to the sauce and gently toss to coat the pasta evenly.

Step 6

Transfer half of the tortellini mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.

Step 7

Layer the remaining tortellini mixture, followed by the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Step 8

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped fresh basil before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm and enjoy this cheesy, comforting dish with a side salad or garlic bread.
