Ingredients

  • 0.5 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 sheet Pre-made puff pastry sheet
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 0.25 cup Pickles, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3 minutes, or until the onion is softened.

Step 4

Season the beef mixture with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir to combine, then remove the skillet from heat.

Step 5

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly to smooth it out. Transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Score a 1-inch border around the edges of the puff pastry (being careful not to cut all the way through). Prick the interior of the pastry with a fork to prevent it from puffing too much.

Step 7

Spread the ketchup and mustard evenly over the interior of the pastry, staying within the scored border.

Step 8

Evenly distribute the cooked beef mixture over the pastry, also staying within the border. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 9

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if using.

Step 10

Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 11

Remove the tart from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Sprinkle the diced pickles over the top before slicing and serving. Enjoy your Cheeseburger Tart warm!
