Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium (diced) Yellow onion
  • 2 (minced) Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 cup Frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup (divided) Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (9-inch, store-bought or homemade) Refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 (beaten with 1 tbsp water for egg wash) Egg
  • 0.5 tsp (or to taste) Salt
  • 0.5 tsp (or to taste) Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil.

Step 3

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess fat and transfer the beef to a plate.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently.

Step 5

Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet, then stir in the ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes until the mixture is well combined.

Step 6

Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the beef mixture and stir to combine. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to create a thick sauce. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the mixture has thickened.

Step 7

Fold in the frozen mixed vegetables and half of the shredded cheddar cheese (1/2 cup). Stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture is evenly combined. Remove the skillet from heat.

Step 8

Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a 9-inch pie dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 9

Roll out the refrigerated pie crust and place it over the filling, tucking the edges down along the sides of the pie dish.

Step 10

Brush the top of the crust with the beaten egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish.

Step 11

Cut a few small slits in the center of the pie crust to release steam during baking.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and flaky.

Step 13

Remove the Cheeseburger Pot Pie from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.

Step 14

Slice and serve warm. Enjoy your homemade Cheeseburger Pot Pie!
