Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 4 whole Pita pockets
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup
  • 2 cups Lettuce
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 0.5 cup Pickles

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef mixture and cook, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.

Step 3

Turn off the heat and sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the cooked beef. Stir until the cheese is melted and evenly distributed.

Step 4

Warm the pita pockets slightly by microwaving for 10-15 seconds or toasting in a dry skillet for about 1 minute on each side.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and ketchup to create a simple burger sauce.

Step 6

Slice the tomato into thin rounds, and roughly chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

Step 7

Cut each pita pocket in half to create two openings and gently pry them open without tearing the bread.

Step 8

Spread a small amount of the burger sauce inside each pita half.

Step 9

Stuff each pita with a layer of lettuce, a couple of tomato slices, a spoonful of the cheesy beef mixture, and a few slices of pickles.

Step 10

Serve the stuffed pitas immediately, with extra burger sauce on the side if desired.
