Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 medium, finely chopped Yellow onion
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup, shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup, grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 tablespoon, chopped (optional for garnish) Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined.

Step 5

Add the cooled onion and garlic mixture to the dry ingredients, then pour in the wet mixture. Stir until the dough comes together. If the mixture is too dry, add a small splash of milk, one teaspoon at a time, until it holds together.

Step 6

Using a tablespoon or a cookie scoop, portion out small balls of the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the morsels are lightly golden and cooked through.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.
