Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth any creases. Both sheets should be of equal size, approximately 10x10 inches.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the grated cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese with the paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Evenly distribute the cheese mixture across the surface of one puff pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.

Step 5

Place the second puff pastry sheet on top of the first one, sandwiching the cheese mixture between them. Gently press down to seal the two sheets together.

Step 6

Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to slice the layered pastry into 12 evenly sized strips.

Step 7

Take each strip and twist it gently a few times to create a spiral shape. Then, coil the twisted strip into a crown-like spiral and pinch the end to secure the shape. Place each crown onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of each crown with the egg wash for a golden, glossy finish.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the crowns are puffed and golden brown.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. These Cheese Crowns are best enjoyed warm but can also be served at room temperature.
