Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 8 strips Bacon strips
  • 4 whole Burger buns
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices Tomato slices
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp Ketchup

Directions

Step 1

Start by preheating your grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Be careful not to over-mix as it could result in dense burgers.

Step 3

Divide the seasoned beef into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 4

Place the formed patties onto the preheated grill or pan. Cook on one side for about 3-4 minutes until a crust forms, then flip.

Step 5

As the burgers cook, lay out bacon strips on another pan or section of the grill and cook until they are crispy, then set aside on a paper towel to remove excess grease.

Step 6

During the last 2 minutes of cooking the patties, place a cheese slice on each patty, allowing the cheese to melt slightly.

Step 7

Simultaneously, toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster if preferred.

Step 8

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of ketchup on the cut side of each bun bottom.

Step 9

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun followed by the burger patty topped with cheese, adding two crispy bacon strips, then a slice of tomato.

Step 10

Top it with the bun cover and serve immediately while warm, alongside your favorite sides.
