Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 3 cups Bread flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Milk powder (optional, for softness)

Directions

Step 1

Place warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast into the bread machine's pan. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy.

Step 2

Add the bread flour, salt, softened butter, and milk powder (if using) to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer.

Step 3

Select the 'Dough' cycle on your bread machine and start it.

Step 4

After 5 minutes of kneading, add the shredded cheddar cheese to the dough. Allow the machine to continue the cycle until the dough is fully kneaded and has risen.

Step 5

Once the dough cycle is complete, remove the dough from the machine and punch it down gently on a floured surface.

Step 6

Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Cover loosely with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let rise for 30–45 minutes in a warm place, until doubled in size.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 8

Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the internal temperature of the bread reaches 190°F (88°C).

Step 9

Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
