Ingredients

  • 25 cookies Chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1.5 quarts Coffee ice cream, softened
  • 1.5 cups Hot fudge sauce
  • 2 cups Whipped cream
  • 0.5 cup Chocolate shavings or curls (optional, for garnish)
  • 0.25 cup Chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs. Alternatively, you can crush them in a resealable plastic bag with a rolling pin.

Step 2

Transfer the crushed cookies to a medium bowl and pour in the melted butter. Stir until the mixture is evenly combined.

Step 3

Press the cookie mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to form the crust. Make sure it is evenly distributed and compact. Place the crust in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up.

Step 4

While the crust chills, allow the coffee ice cream to soften at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes, or until it's easy to spread.

Step 5

Remove the crust from the freezer and scoop the softened coffee ice cream onto the crust. Spread it evenly to create a smooth layer. Return the pan to the freezer and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.

Step 6

Once the ice cream layer is frozen, warm the hot fudge sauce according to the package instructions or until pourable, but not too hot. Spread the fudge sauce over the ice cream layer to create an even layer of chocolate. Return to the freezer for another 1 hour to set.

Step 7

Before serving, remove the mud pie from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes to make slicing easier.

Step 8

Release the springform pan ring and transfer the pie to a serving plate. Top the pie with dollops of whipped cream, and garnish with chocolate shavings or curls and chopped nuts if desired.

Step 9

Slice the pie into wedges, serve, and enjoy your decadent Chart House-inspired dessert!
