Ingredients

  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and 1.5 cups of granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

In a small bowl, prepare the cinnamon-sugar coating by mixing 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon with 0.25 cups of sugar.

Step 7

Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, scoop out dough and roll it into 1-inch balls with your hands.

Step 8

Roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until completely coated and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked. Avoid overbaking to maintain their soft texture.

Step 10

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
