Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin steak
  • 250 grams Orzo pasta
  • 4 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 500 milliliters Chicken or vegetable stock
  • 2 stalks Scallions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the soy glaze by mixing the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 2

Season the beef sirloin steak with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear the beef for 3-4 minutes on each side until a charred crust forms. Remove the steak and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing into thin strips.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and pour in the soy glaze. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened. Add the sliced beef back into the skillet to coat in the glaze. Set aside and keep warm.

Step 5

In a medium pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the orzo pasta and toast lightly, stirring frequently, for 2-3 minutes until golden.

Step 6

Pour in the chicken or vegetable stock and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.

Step 7

Stir in the butter to make the orzo creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Step 8

To serve, spoon the buttery orzo onto plates or a serving platter. Top with the charred soy-glazed beef and drizzle any extra glaze from the skillet over the dish.

Step 9

Garnish with sliced scallions and freshly chopped parsley for a burst of freshness.
