Ingredients

  • 500 grams Button mushrooms (or cremini)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 4 large Garlic cloves
  • 60 milliliters Dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 0.25 teaspoons Red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth or rinsing briefly under cold water. Pat them dry and slice them into thick, even pieces.

Step 2

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the oil and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.

Step 5

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir them well to coat in the garlic-infused oil.

Step 6

Season with salt, black pepper, and optional red chili flakes if using. Cook the mushrooms for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their liquid and become golden brown.

Step 7

Pour in the dry white wine and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.

Step 8

Turn off the heat and stir in the freshly chopped parsley and optional lemon juice for a bright finish.

Step 9

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot with crusty bread, as a side dish, or part of a tapas spread.
