Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 inch piece, sliced Fresh ginger
  • 1 small piece Cinnamon stick
  • 4 pods, lightly crushed Green cardamom pods
  • 3 whole Cloves
  • 3 whole Black peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons or bags Black tea leaves or tea bags
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons (adjust to taste) Sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, sliced ginger, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and black peppercorns.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the spices to release their flavors.

Step 3

Add 2 teaspoons of black tea leaves or 2 tea bags to the pan and continue to simmer for 3 minutes. For a stronger tea, simmer a little longer.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and pour in 1 cup of whole milk. Stir gently and heat the mixture until it's just about to boil, avoiding a vigorous boil to prevent spilling.

Step 5

Add 2 teaspoons of sugar (or adjust to taste) and stir until dissolved.

Step 6

Strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer into cups or mugs to remove the spices and tea leaves.

Step 7

Serve the chai spiced tea hot, and enjoy its rich, warming aroma and flavors.
