Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, black pepper, and salt.
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough begins to form. The dough will be slightly sticky.
Fold the mini chocolate chips into the dough until evenly distributed.
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide it into two equal portions.
Shape each portion into a rectangular log, approximately 10 inches long and 2 inches wide. Place the logs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
For a shiny finish, optionally brush the tops of the logs with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 egg yolk.

Lay the slices cut side down on the same baking sheet. Return them to the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, then flip the slices and bake for another 8-10 minutes or until the biscotti are dry and golden.
Remove from the oven and let the biscotti cool completely on a wire rack. They will continue to harden as they cool.
