  • 24 ounces Marinara sauce
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Cook the rotini pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them up with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Step 4

Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet with the cooked meat. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the marinara sauce, black olives, mushrooms, salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, the meat and sauce mixture, and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Mix everything thoroughly.

Step 7

Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.

Step 8

Top the pasta with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, the shredded Parmesan cheese, and the pepperoni slices.
