Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned baked beans
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 1 medium (diced) Onion
  • 1 medium (diced) Green bell pepper
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Once cooked, remove the bacon and set it aside on a plate lined with paper towels. Reserve about 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings in the skillet.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the diced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula. Drain any excess fat.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Step 6

Crumble the reserved crispy bacon and stir it into the bean mixture.

Step 7

Add the sautéed onion, bell pepper, and cooked ground beef to the bean mixture and stir until evenly distributed.

Step 8

Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling and slightly caramelized on top.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
