Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 apple (medium, peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or almonds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 pinch pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine rolled oats, water, and milk. Stir to mix.

Step 2

Add the diced apple, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.

Step 4

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 7–10 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the oats are creamy and the apple pieces have softened.

Step 5

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup for sweetness. If using chia seeds, stir them in at this point too.

Step 6

Divide the oatmeal between two bowls. Top with chopped walnuts or almonds for added texture and a subtle crunch, if desired.

Step 7

Serve warm and enjoy your wholesome, hunger-fighting oatmeal!
