Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 Shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup Toasted pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half lengthwise.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil and unsalted butter. Allow the butter to melt and combine with the oil.

Step 3

Once the pan is hot, add the Brussels sprouts in a single layer, cut side down. Let them cook undisturbed for about 5–7 minutes or until the cut sides are golden brown and caramelized.

Step 4

Stir the sprouts and add the sliced shallots. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shallots become soft and fragrant.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring to ensure it does not burn.

Step 6

Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in the balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and black pepper. Toss the mixture to evenly coat the Brussels sprouts.

Step 7

Allow the mixture to cook for another 2–3 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

Step 8

If using, sprinkle toasted pecans over the sprouts for added crunch and flavor.

Step 9

Remove the pan from heat, transfer the caramelized Brussels sprouts to a serving dish, and enjoy!
