Ingredients

  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 0.67 cup Baking soda
  • 8 cups Water (for boiling)
  • 0 Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
  • 0 for sprinkling Coarse salt

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is foamy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add the carrot puree, molasses, honey, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form into a ball.
