Ingredients

  • 500 grams carrots
  • 500 grams swede
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 milliliters milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Peel the carrots and swede, then chop them into roughly equal-sized pieces, about 2cm cubes for even cooking.

Step 2

Place the chopped vegetables into a large saucepan and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt to the water to enhance the flavor.

Step 3

Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let the vegetables simmer for about 25 minutes or until they are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.

Step 4

Drain the cooked vegetables thoroughly in a colander, then return them to the saucepan or a large mixing bowl.

Step 5

Add the butter and milk to the hot vegetables. Using a potato masher, mash the carrots and swede until smooth and creamy. If you prefer a smoother consistency, you can use a hand mixer.

Step 6

Season the mash with salt and ground black pepper to taste, mixing in well.

Step 7

Once the desired consistency and seasoning are achieved, transfer the mash to a serving bowl and serve hot as a delicious side dish.
