Ingredients

  • 225 grams Cream cheese
  • 1 medium Carrot
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 8 slices Whole grain or white sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (optional, for spreading)

Directions

Step 1

Grate the carrot on the fine side of a box grater and set it aside.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cream cheese, grated carrot, fresh dill, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Step 3

Lay out the slices of bread on a flat surface. If desired, lightly spread unsalted butter on one side of each slice to prevent the spread from soaking into the bread and to enhance flavor.

Step 4

Spread an even layer of the carrot and cream cheese mixture onto 4 slices of bread.

Step 5

Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.

Step 6

Using a sharp knife, trim the crusts off the sandwiches for a traditional tea sandwich look.

Step 7

Cut each sandwich into quarters, either diagonally into triangles or into squares, depending on your preference.

Step 8

Arrange the tea sandwiches on a serving platter and serve immediately, or cover with a slightly damp paper towel and plastic wrap to keep them fresh until serving.
