Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Chicken wings
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Hot sauce (e.g., Frank's RedHot)
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp White vinegar

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the chicken wings and pat them dry with paper towels. If the wings are whole, separate them into drumettes and flats, discarding the wing tips if desired.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

Dredge the chicken wings in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure each wing is evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour and place the wings on a wire rack to rest for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep skillet to 375°F (190°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, the oil is ready when a pinch of flour dropped into it sizzles immediately.

Step 5

Carefully place the wings into the hot oil in small batches. Fry them for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wings and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

Step 6

While the wings are frying, make the hot sauce. In a small saucepan, heat the hot sauce, butter, honey, and white vinegar over medium-low heat. Stir until the butter has melted and the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Once all the wings are fried, place them in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot sauce mixture over the wings and toss to coat them evenly.

Step 8

Serve the wings immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, celery sticks, and carrot sticks on the side.
