Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Yellow mustard
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 cups Coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 8 pieces Pickle slices

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and brown sugar. Mix gently until the spices are evenly distributed but do not overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the pork mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a burger patty approximately 3/4-inch thick.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the surface with vegetable oil if needed.

Step 4

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and are fully cooked through. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, make the Carolina-inspired slaw. In a medium bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, and mayonnaise until smooth.

Step 6

Add the coleslaw mix to the bowl and toss until the vegetables are coated in the dressing. Set aside.

Step 7

Toast the hamburger buns. Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides and lightly toast them on the grill or in a pan until golden brown.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers: Place a cooked pork patty on the bottom bun. Top with a generous scoop of coleslaw, 2 pickle slices, and the top bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your Carolina Pulled Pork Inspired Hamburgers!
