Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Additional semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips together over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add the melted chocolate mixture, and stir until the sugars are well incorporated.

Step 4

Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, until the mixture is smooth and glossy.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 7

If desired, stir in additional chocolate chips for extra chocolatey cookies.

Step 8

Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked. The cookies will still appear soft in the center but will firm up as they cool.

Step 10

Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Enjoy these chewy, brownie-like chocolate cookies with a glass of cold milk or your favorite hot beverage!
