  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 12 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat. Cook until the onion is transparent, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

In a medium mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, 1 cup of grated Parmesan, the egg, and chopped parsley. Stir until well mixed.

Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Top with 1/4 of the remaining meat sauce. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with the remaining meat sauce.

Sprinkle the top with the remaining 2 cups of shredded mozzarella and 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil, ensuring the foil does not touch the cheese to avoid sticking. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and lightly golden.

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving to allow the layers to set.
