Ingredients

  • 1 pound Flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 large Russet potatoes
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Guacamole
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 1 cup Pico de gallo
  • 0.25 cup Fresh cilantro

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine lime juice, orange juice, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.

Step 2

Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour marinade over it. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Step 3

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into thin strips for fries.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5

Fry the potato strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.

Step 6

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.

Step 7

Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until your desired level of doneness is reached.

Step 8

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.

Step 9

Spread the fries over a large serving platter or individual plates and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. You can melt the cheese quickly under a broiler if desired.

Step 10

Top the cheesy fries with sliced carne asada, followed by dollops of guacamole and sour cream.

Step 11

Finish with pico de gallo and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro. Serve immediately and enjoy!
