Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned navy beans
  • 6 slices Thick-cut bacon
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cups Ketchup
  • 0.25 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.5 cups Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove the bacon, crumble it into small pieces, and set aside. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.

Step 3

In the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the water until the mixture is evenly blended.

Step 5

In a large oven-safe baking dish, combine the canned navy beans, sautéed onion and garlic mixture, and the sauce mixture. Gently stir until all ingredients are distributed evenly.

Step 6

Scatter the crumbled bacon over the top of the bean mixture.

Step 7

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes.

Step 8

Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened and bubbling.

Step 9

Let the baked beans cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
