Ingredients

  • 500 grams Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 medium Shallot
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 50 grams Shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 50 grams Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

Wash the Brussels sprouts thoroughly, remove any damaged outer leaves, and trim the stems. Slice each sprout in half lengthwise.

Step 3

Finely chop the shallot and garlic cloves and set aside.

Step 4

In a large oven-safe skillet or frying pan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted and shimmering.

Step 5

Add the Brussels sprouts cut side down to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, undisturbed, until the bottoms are golden brown and slightly caramelized.

Step 6

Stir in the chopped shallot, garlic, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shallots are softened and fragrant.

Step 7

Sprinkle the shredded Parmesan and mozzarella evenly over the Brussels sprouts.

Step 8

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.

Step 10

Serve immediately as a side dish or as a delicious main for vegetable lovers.
