Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
  • 3 large apples
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 30 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 100 ml caramel sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Peel, core, and dice the apples into small cubes.

Step 3

In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Step 4

Cook the apples for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and the sugar has caramelized.

Step 5

Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and mix well to thicken the filling. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 6

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into four equal squares, for a total of eight squares.

Step 7

Place a spoonful of the cooled apple filling in the center of each pastry square, being careful not to overfill.

Step 8

Fold each pastry square into a triangle by bringing opposite corners together. Press the edges together with a fork to seal completely.

Step 9

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash.

Step 10

Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Step 11

Remove the pastries from the oven and allow them to cool slightly on a wire rack.

Step 12

Drizzle the cooled pastries with caramel sauce before serving.
