Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Dried thyme

Directions

Step 1

In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, smoked paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, and dried thyme.

Step 2

Mix well with a spoon or whisk until all ingredients are fully incorporated and evenly distributed.

Step 3

To use the rub, generously coat both sides of your steak with the mixture, lightly pressing it into the surface of the meat with your hands. Use approximately 1 tablespoon of rub per steak or adjust according to your taste preference.

Step 4

Allow the steak to rest with the rub on it for at least 30 minutes at room temperature before grilling, pan-searing, or broiling to let the flavors penetrate the meat.

Step 5

Store any leftover rub in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
