Ingredients

  • 1 tube (8 biscuits) Canned biscuit dough
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Chocolate glaze or icing (optional)

Directions

Step 1

1. Open the tube of canned biscuit dough and separate the biscuits onto a clean surface.

Step 2

2. Use a small round cutter (such as a bottle cap or the small end of a piping tip) to cut a hole in the center of each biscuit to create a donut shape. Save the cut-out centers to make donut holes.

Step 3

3. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test the oil with a small piece of dough—it should sizzle immediately but not burn.

Step 4

4. Carefully place a few donuts into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each side for 1–2 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to flip them.

Step 5

5. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat the process with the remaining donuts and donut holes.

Step 6

6. While the donuts and holes are still warm, roll them in granulated sugar or a mixture of sugar and cinnamon, if desired. Alternatively, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate glaze.

Step 7

7. Serve immediately and enjoy! These donuts are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
