Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or use silicone baking cups.
Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl by microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring in between each interval, until fully melted. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method).
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into the bottom of each muffin liner. Use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate slightly up the sides. Place the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes to set.
In a medium bowl, mix the peanut butter (or filling of choice), powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt until smooth and creamy.
Remove the tray from the freezer and add about 1 to 2 teaspoons of the filling onto the center of each chocolate layer. Flatten the filling slightly with a spoon or your fingers, leaving a small border around the edges.
Spoon enough melted chocolate over the filling to cover it completely, ensuring the edges are sealed. Gently lift and tap the tray on the counter to remove any air bubbles and flatten the chocolate.
Return the tray to the freezer for 10 minutes, or until the candy cups are fully set.
Once set, remove the candy cups from the liners and store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Enjoy your homemade candy cups as a sweet treat or gift!
